Lately, I’ve been cooking at home more often. And honestly I don’t miss the restaurant food. There are many good things that come along with cooking in your own kitchen. First, its fun! Secondly, you get to choose the menu and food ingredients to make sure that everything you consume is the freshest and healthiest possible.

I’ve been using a lot of different spices. I learned that many of them not only enhance the taste of my food but are also very healthy for you. Today I want to recommend a few tasty spices that can help protect you from heart disease, diabetes, cancer, arthritis… even Alzheimer’s.

A Pinch of Cinnamon Beats Heart Disease and Diabetes

Cinnamon is great sprinkled over applesauce. It’s good in yogurt. It’s tasty on toast. I like it in my oatmeal. I even enjoy a mug of cinnamon tea now and again. Every time you eat something spiced with cinnamon you do your body a good turn.

Did you know that this amazing, delicious spice can help you regulate your blood sugar and lower your LDL cholesterol levels? That means cinnamon helps prevent both diabetes and heart disease.

In one study, researchers found that cinnamon improves health in a number of ways. They had people with diabetes eat around a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon every day for 40 days. At the end of the study, that average patient’s fasting blood sugar dropped up to 29%, LDL cholesterol fell up to 30%, and total cholesterol fell up to 26%.1 That’s not bad for a pinch of a tasty spice that’s probably already in your pantry.

Cut Cancer and Alzheimer’s Risk with Curry

If you’re a fan of Indian food, then you’ll be surprised to know that curry is a great way to help protect your brain from Alzheimer’s disease. It’s also been shown to cut your risk of several kinds of cancer.

Curry dishes use a spice called turmeric, which contains a compound called curcumin. Researchers first became curious about turmeric when they realized that very few people in India ever develop Alzheimer’s disease. They wondered why, and eventually they zeroed in on turmeric. In the studies that followed they found that turmeric prevents the brain plaques that cause Alzheimer’s from forming.2

Early research has also linked turmeric to a lower incidence of colon, gastric, prostate, and lung cancer.3

Ease Arthritis Pain With Ginger

Ginger is a tasty ingredient in many Asian dishes. It also gives ginger snap cookies their “snap.” It makes a tasty tea, too. Its benefits surpass the culinary, though. Ginger has long been known to relieve stomach upset. It also may reduce the pain and inflammation associated with arthritis.

One study found that arthritis patients who took ginger extract every day experienced the same amount of relief as those who took over-the-counter painkillers.4 Since these painkillers are fraught with side affects and ginger isn’t, ginger is certainly preferable.

Spices enhance the flavor and your enjoyment of food. That alone is enough of an argument to use them regularly and liberally. That they convey so many health benefits is just the icing on the cake!

The respiratory system is one of the most important systems in the human body. It is the part of the body that distributes oxygen throughout the body in order for it to live. Without it, the body will not be able to survive. This is why it is important for you to always take care of your respiratory system.

However, there are instances where there will be a respiratory disorder. One type of respiratory illness is called bronchitis. This is an obstructive pulmonary disorder where the bronchi of the lungs become inflamed. This particular condition is common with tobacco smokers or people living in areas where there is a high level of air pollution.

One type of bronchitis is called acute bronchitis where it is considered to be a short-term bronchitis and can be treated right away. You can tell if you have it if you are suffering from the following signs and symptoms:

• Persistent coughing with mucus
• Shortness of breath (Dyspnea)
• Mild fever
• Fatigue
• Mild chest pains
• Feeling of vibration in the chest when breathing
• Feeling of coldness

If you are suffering from the mentioned signs and symptoms, it is recommended that you should consult your physician immediately in order for them to conduct a diagnosis. The diagnosis will include a physical examination where the physician will listen for your breathing sounds through a stethoscope. They will also have your chest X-rayed for further testing.

Acute bronchitis is commonly caused by viruses infecting the lining of the bronchial tree. The virus can be the same viruses that cause colds. In rare cases, this can be caused by an infection of fungus in the bronchial tree. Bacterial infection is also one of the main causes of acute bronchitis.

Treatment for acute bronchitis can be rather easy to do. If the bronchitis is caused by a virus, it will usually go away after a few days and signs and symptoms will subside. It is only required that you should get plenty of rest until the fever subsides and drink a lot of non-caffeinated and non-alcoholic drink, such as water and juices. It is recommended that you should drink at least 3 to 4 liters a day in order for you to recover faster.

However, if the bronchitis is caused by bacteria, the treatment will include taking antibiotics. It is also recommended that you should increase the humidity in the environment by using room humidifiers or by simply putting wet towels and blankets around the house.

In order to help the tree recover and heal faster and prevent another attack of bronchitis, it is recommended that you should stay away from polluted areas and if you are a smoker, you should cut down or quit smoking if possible or at least by not smoking inside the house.

The duration of acute bronchitis is usually 10 to 12 days after the first signs and symptoms appear. It will be accompanied by cold or flu or in some cases it can come unaccompanied by other conditions. You have to remember that it is contagious. It is usually transmitted through coughing where the virus or bacteria will be released in the air causing someone who breathes in the virus or bacteria to get infected. It is important that whenever you need to cough, you should cover your mouth with a damp cloth to prevent most of the virus or bacteria particles from getting airborne.

For some people, after the bronchitis has been treated, they will still continue coughing. However, if the coughing lasts longer than a month, it is recommended that you should consult your physician immediately as some other condition aside from it may be causing you to cough.

There are ways to prevent bronchitis. To do this, all you need to do is wash your hands thoroughly and frequently, drink lots of fluid, and get lots of rest. You have to remember that bronchitis is caused by viruses or bacteria that can be transferred from an infected area to your hands and from your hands to your lungs.

Always remember that once you see the signs and symptoms associated with bronchitis, you should consult your doctor immediately in order to make a quick diagnosis of your condition and let you treat it at its early stages.

Great news to everyone who have cold sores: there are now various ways to effectively manage those annoying cold sores. Presented below are a few effective treatment suggestions you should learn about:

Effective tips on how to cure cold sores

· Make sure to keep them clean and dry. Do not try to cover them up through cosmetics as doing so might just worsen the attack. Besides, concealing with thick layers of foundation usually is not successfully hide them.

· Moisturize the area with petroleum gel to hasten the healing process, avoid cracking, bleeding, and spread.

Apply some lip balm with SPF to avoid aggravating the blisters. Take note that a lot of cases of cold sore attacks are due to too much exposure to the sun.

· Putting ice and tea bags on the affected area will aid in soothing pain and discomfort and in lessening the swelling. Tannins found in tea are proven to have anti-viral effects that may work on your cold sores.

· Take more lysine-containing foods and avoid those which are citrus or contain arginine.

Lysine stops the virus from further reproducing while arginine supports their growth. Eat more dairy products and potatoes which are two of the richest sources of lysine. Avoid or do away with arginine sources like peanuts, whole grains, and chocolates. Acidic foods have been proven to hasten and aggravate them, so go low on citrus fruits as much as you can.

· Herbs such as peppermint and sage are widely-used and very effective. Just apply a drop or two of the extract and allow the anti-viral effect of the herb to do the work.

· There are over-the-counter and prescription medicines that put on your cold sores.

Most of them relieve the symptoms and the itching caused by them. However, while some anti-cold sore drugs claim that they can get rid of them permanently, do not expect it to actually do.

Remember that the virus that causes them tend to stay in the nerve endings for a long time, even for good.

Your best defense against it is to know exactly what initiates your outbreak. What causes yours may differ from another sufferer.

While many homeopathic remedies for yeast infection may seem like an excellent option you want to carefully consider them before you actually put them to use. Yeast infection symptoms can be similar to other conditions that are much more serious than a Candida yeast infection. This is why you should at least have a homeopathic doctor confirm you condition so you know what problem you are actually treating. Homeopathic medicine for yeast infection may be a great way to fight the symptoms of a yeast infection for those who are chronic sufferers and know the symptoms by heart but want to fight it with a natural product rather than over the counter medications.

At some point or another woman will have a yeast infection affect their lives? Many women will actually have recurrent and chronic yeast infections during their life. It can be very difficult, almost impossible, to pinpoint the exact cause of these yeast infections. Although there are prescription and over the counter solutions for yeast infections many individuals choose to try homeopathic medicines for yeast infection due to the high cost of yeast infection medication and the fact that some of these medications don’t seem to work.

Different Sorts Of Healing Homeopathic medicine Yeast Infection:

Looking for homeopathic medicine for yeast infection can be one way to get relief from the itching and burning discomfort that comes with yeast infections. Sometimes homeopathic remedies for yeast infection can also be effective when it comes to clearing up the symptoms which is why many women prefer to use these alternative and natural approaches to solving their yeast infection problems.

Some women have chosen boric acid suppositories which have been shown to provide relief especially for those with recurring symptoms that aren’t treated with anti-fungal medications. For others looking for homeopathic medicines for yeast infection there is also garlic clove suppositories and douches made from apple cider vinegar or infusions of tea tree.

Is Homeopathic Medicine Yeast Infection a Complete Solution?

The only bad side to homeopathic medicines for yeast infection is that many choose not to get a diagnosis from their doctors first. The symptoms of a yeast infection are also common to many other vaginal problems and these can’t be solved with home remedies. And some homeopathic medicines for yeast infection have been known to cause more problems than they do benefits, such as douches, especially when women are sensitive. Sometimes homeopathic remedies for yeast infection will ease the symptoms, but it won’t actually clear up the underlying cause of the yeast infection so that the discomfort will return again once the homeopathic remedy is discontinued.

You are DYING every day!

More accurately, the degeneration process is slowly killing you, day by day.

We have so many cells, and every day we lose more and more. Our bodies’ completely regenerate every year and a half. That is, the oldest cell in your body is 1 year and 6 months old. That’s it. There are no cells older than that. So, you ask, how come we don’t look younger and keep our looks from when we were kids?

The fact is, as we grow older we have less and less proper nutrition, and we are far more affected by free radicals (stress). Our cells have less and less fuel to work with, and when they do multiply they are reborn with a poorer structure. (This is the degeneration process.)

All this is to say that the prematurely aging body is caused by a lack of nutrition and the rise in free radicals.

All the cells in our bodies require the right form of nutrients (the materials), the complete formula (the tools) and the proper proportion to create balance (the builder/worker). Let’s stay with this construction terminology to help you understand.

The only time your body will regenerate is at night, because during the day our body fights back all the aggression of the free radicals, and, of course, reacts to your daily needs. Night is when the little workers come in to fix the body. In order for the worker to do his job, he need his materials and his tools. If you are missing any of one of the three (worker, materials and tools) the job will not be complete.

In other words, if you don’t have the proper nutrients, your body will not be able to regenerate itself to its maximum. The body however must get the job done while you sleep. That means that if the little worker in your body is missing cheap rock but has extra 2 by 4 studs, we will try to make a wall of 2 by 4 studs instead of having a nicely finished wall.

Degeneration Process Example

Now, here’s an example related to functionality. Lets compare the cell and its functionality to a water bottle. The water bottle is the cell and its function is to hold the water in the bottle when it is turned upside down. Let’s say your body needs ten water bottles to achieve a certain function. You then need ten bottles, ten lids, someone to fill them up and assemble them.

If you have ten bottles, but only 8 lids, and someone to fill them up and assemble them, there is going to be a little problem. You are going to be 2 lids short. So, your worker who fills them up will simply try to find another lid that is around and put it on the water bottle. Whether it fits or not, it will be on the bottle (the degeneration process).

Now when you flip that bottle upside down, the water will spill everywhere, therefore it will not complete its proper function. Now imagine that defective water bottle reproducing itself. Well, the implications are clear — you will have more and more defective bottles. Every year and a half, your body is reproducing bottles (cells) missing something, and this continues over a 60 year cycle.

Can you imagine what the before and after cells would be like after 60 years? That’s why we age and we seem to be more sick, getting degenerative disease and lots more. But even worse, what took 60 years before, now, because of all the stress and lack of nutrition, we can accomplish in less than 10 years. (This is NOT something not to be proud of!)

Notice that a malnourished person often looks years older than they really are, and they are more susceptible to get a degenerative disease.

Basically the degeneration process can be summed up in the degeneration of the cells over a period of time changing the structure and the functionality of the cells.

A sinusitis infection may appear to be a common cold when it first begins. Cold symptoms such as runny nose, cough, and congestion generally exist. Sinusitis cannot be treated with cold medication and if it is in fact, it needs to be treated quickly before more severe symptoms occur. This is usually is caused by a cold or an allergy. Swelling of the sinus cavity lining occurs with a cold or allergy. When bacteria enter the sinus cavities, and attack the swollen lining, greater inflammation occurs. The cilia is what usually flushes out the bacteria and mucus but when a great amount of inflammation occurs, the cilia can no longer function and so the bacteria and mucus become trapped in the sinus cavities and as a result the infection begins.

The problems which may occur with acute sinusitis may include cough, congestion, facial pain and pressure, headache, green nasal discharge, and postnasal drip. When the infection becomes chronic and lasts for twelve or more weeks, a person can have added problems such as loss of sense of taste and smell and fatigue may also take place. Other symptoms may also occur depending on which sinus cavity that the infection lies in.

There are several medications and other treatments that are meant to help offer relief for the symptoms that occur with a sinusitis infection. Oral medications such as antibiotics, decongestants, and anti-fungals are commonly used treatments for sinusitis. Oral medications work on infections and by traveling through the blood stream to the area where the infection lies. Oral medications use the blood stream to travel to the area where they are needed, but in the sinus cavities there are only a small amount of blood vessels so only a small amount of the medication can be delivered to the infection which generally leads to little or no relief from the treatment. These medications can also cause side effects throughout the rest of the body since they travel through the blood stream and through the whole body.

Treatments such as nasal sprays and irrigation are also frequently used. These treatments are distributed directly into the nasal cavities. These treatments are used to moisten the cilia so that it can flush out the trapped mucus and bacteria. Nasal sprays are commonly used and can be prescribed or purchased over the counter. The nasal sprays may offer some relief to the lower part of the sinuses but often times may not help the infection since their particle sizes are too large to make it past the inflammation at the opening of the sinus cavities and up to the infection. The same is for irrigation which usually uses a water pick to distribute saline up to the sinus cavities. Irrigation is also very messy and generally unsuccessful in treating the sinusitis infection.

Aerosolized medications are a newer treatment which also distributes the medications directly into the nasal cavities. Aerosolized medications are used similar to nebulized asthma medications. These antibiotics, anti-fungals, and anti-inflammatories are broken down into a small particle size so that it can pass the inflammation and make its way up to it. Generally a small amount of these medications are used which results in little to no side effects in the rest of the body.

There are many treatment options for sinusitis suffers. Treatments will work different for each person because our bodies are so different and react differently. It’s important to know the difference between when you are getting a cold and getting it and to know what treatments work best for you.

A recent Finnish study followed over 24,000 citizens with no prior history of hypertension or high blood pressure for thirteen years to attempt to find a causal link between high blood pressure and coffee. The ages of the participants were between 25 and 64 years old. Also required was that they had no history of hypertension drug use and no history of stroke or heart disease.

The results of the study were inconclusive leaving it an open question as to how much coffee drinking affects hypertension.

During the course of the study, 2500 participants, or approximately 10%, began taking some type of anti hypertension drug. Previous studies have shown that roughly 19% of non-coffee drinkers developed high blood pressure during the time period of the study. What’s unknown is how many of the participants developed high blood pressure but are either unaware of it or not taking medication for it.

Part of the questionnaire that participants were asked to complete focused on how many cups of coffee they drink daily. The more cups of coffee a participant drank, the greater the chances are that he or she would end up in the group taking anti hypertension drugs. So although there does seem to be some slight causation link between coffee drinking and high blood pressure, the risk seems to be small, and many questions still remain.

For example, coffee drinkers tend to drink alcohol more than non coffee drinkers. Though the occasional drink may be good for relieving stress and may even reduce diastolic blood pressure, studies have consistently shown that alcohol when consumed in excess increases blood pressure. We also know that over time, excess drinking can damage the heart. The study did not control for alcohol consumption.

Coffee drinkers also, as a rule, smoke cigarettes more than non smokers. Smoking tends to harden the blood arteries and constrict blood flow. The heart has to pump harder to force the blood through the narrow arteries and blood pressure rises as a result. In addition, studies have also demonstrated that discontinuing tobacco smoking will likely lead to a decrease in blood pressure. The study did not control for smoking.

Other lifestyle factors that come into play are eating habits, gender, weight, exercise, and salt sensitivity and intake. Diet, as we know, has a great impact on whether a person develops hypertension. Is a person who drinks coffee more likely to also have bad eating habits which can lead to high blood pressure?

Exercise is very beneficial to the heart and arterial system. Is a coffee drinker more likely to be sedentary than a non coffee drinker?

For years now, it seems as though every bit of food we put into our bodies is somehow harmful to us. Fish is good for the heart but are we willing to risk ingesting too much mercury. A vegetarian diet is good for health, but are we willing to risk bone loss? Fruits have loads of healthy antioxidants, but will the sugar content in them rot our teeth?

But there is one piece of good news from the study. It seems as though coffee drinking actually lowers the risk of getting type 2 diabetes. At this point, we’ll take all the good news we can get.

Caffeine’s medical use for treating Parkinson’s sickness is a subject of much debate. I can’t help but think that caffeine has a high cost, even if it does help. It may come as a shock to you that, as I discuss in my book, “The Truth About Caffeine”, large amounts of caffeine use removes some of your dopamine somatic cell. And, even if a person consumes it moderately, sooner or later, he will increase his dosages. Just like other substances, our body adapts itself to caffeine, negating its potency so that only increased amounts still provide an effect. However, high levels of caffeine can be dangerous and even fatal.

Caffeine is prized for its ability to stimulate our brain and open the brains’ doorway of dopamine, giving us higher emotions, mental sharpness and stronger urges to act. People crave caffeine because it gets dopamine out of our brains quickly, like other strong substances. Dopamine is a neuro-transmitter, the brain’ chemical messenger which is responsible for energy level, vigilance, alertness, reaction time, spontaneity, etc. However, dopamine is also responsible for addiction to stimulants.

Large quantities of caffeine can quickly expend the levels of dopamine and diminish the production of dopamine creating brain cells. As a result, you feel, fatigued, and exhausted. To fix this, you reach for another dose of caffeine. This is the how the process of the reduction of dopamine somatic cell works.

Dopamine reduction quickens with age and caffeine ingestion. Parkinson’s sickness is the result of a serious reduction of dopamine somatic cell. Those with Parkinson’s sickness gain from caffeine’s stimulation on dopamine discharge. Even so, about seventy to eighty percent of dopamine somatic cell become permanently lost previous to becoming aware of its symptoms.

In addition, caffeine is linked to growth of more health problems. The creation of stress hormones by the adrenal glands is dangerously accelerated by caffeine. Right into the bloodstream goes the stress hormones adrenalin and cortisol, when the adrenal gland receives the message from our pituitary gland, in our brain, that is all started from a single cup of a caffeinated drink.

A natural consequence of an dangerous situation is a feeling of warm blood shooting through our veins, while the stress hormones are let out. The quick “pick-me-up” from caffeine actually comes from a stress hormone. Caffeine is a strong stimulant and an irritant that triggers the body’s defense response by releasing the stress hormones. After a while though, the defense mechanism becomes frail.

With the use of caffeine moving a constant supply of artificial adrenalin, the glands are exhausted and aren’t able to secrete enough hormones. With greater pressure put on the glands, a caffeine addict is driven to revive his energy rush, and keep increasing his ingestion, causing the glands to become exhausted. Consequences will occur, as this cycle continues.

Gradually, adrenal depletion occurs for caffeine consumers. Negative changes happen in the correct operation of the immune, endocrine, and nervous system as daily overproduction of stress hormones, which too much are poisonous, gradually altering the blood makeup.

Any or all of these situations may eventually happen; chronic fatigue, increased insulin and blood sugar levels, weight gain, increased blood pressure, irritation, anxiety, depression, sleeping disorder, frequent virus outbreaks, ulcers, thinning of the skin, bone loss, thyroid problems, and other dangerous signs of severe health difficulties.

I am writing this article for over 20% of the world’s population because statistics say that about 20% of adults will suffer from acid reflux this week. But chances are, if you are reading this article you have already seen a doctor or the antacids are no longer working. In other words, you are looking for other options and you have found the right place.

My name is Joe and I have been in the natural health business for almost 5 years. And one business, one doctor and numerous researchers later, we have now helped almost 10,000 acid reflux sufferers cure this disease naturally. And you can do it too, with some simple tips about the foods that leave you with or without heartburn.

Did you know that your diet could be the reason you are suffering from heart burn? If you or a loved one is suffering from acid reflux (also known as heart burn), please take a moment to take some notes. Here are simple guidelines to remember to keep your life heartburn-free.

Acid Reflux Food Tips

1. Softness Saves! You should be eating softer foods that allow your esophagus to heal from the excessive acid abuse caused by the disease.

2. What Scratches? Think of what foods will go down rough when you eat them. Stay away from crunchy foods such as nuts, crackers, toast, popcorn, cookies, bars that will scratch your Lower Esophageal Sphincter (LES) during digestion.

3. Skip Spiciness! If you enjoy foods that are spicy, you will have to fast from them during the first few weeks. Spicy and acidic foods will typically irritate your LES and result in indigestion.

4. Your drink of choice? Did you know that there are over a hundred benefits for drinking water documented? But I believe there are a thousand more! If you want to take your health serious, you need to switch to water. Begin to drink 10-12 glasses of water a day and avoid soft drinks and alcohol. Another good tip would be to drink one tall glass after every meal to aid with digestion.

5. Coffee Anyone? We all love it but you can only allow yourself one cup per day.

6. Journaling? I always recommend my customers to start journaling! Begin to journal what foods you eat and how you feel after you eat them. I have found hundreds of people who have discovered what foods they can and cannot eat if they suffer from acid reflux disease and sometimes they vary from person to person. You might be surprised?

Herbal hemorrhoids relief is a viable option thanks to recent advances in alternative medicine. There are a variety of ways to treat this condition, from topical analgesics to herbs for hemorrhoids, to invasive treatments requiring incisions. The type of treatment required depends on the severity of the condition and the patient and physician involved. Many people believe that conventional medicine is the cure-all for any ailments, but more often than not, natural remedies can be just as effective.

Hemorrhoids affect more than half of the population over the age of 50. While they are often embarrassing, it is not an uncommon condition, people just tend to keep it private, and hence it isn’t frequently discussed. They are also known by other names such as emerods and piles, and are characterized by swelling and inflammation of the veins in the rectal and anal area.

This can be brought on by straining during bowel movements, constipation, high alcohol and caffeine intake, pregnancy and childbirth, among a variety of other causes. While there is no cure, there are a variety of ways to treat hemorrhoid problems, the least invasive of which includes herbal hemorrhoids relief.

It comes in several different varieties, all of which can be helpful, depending on the needs of the patient. One of the more common herbs is the Japanese pagoda tree extract. This can be complimented with butcher’s broom, horse chestnut, and natural dietary supplements to strengthen the rectal vein walls.

Another good way to get herbal hemorrhoids relief is by taking bromelain, a natural anti-inflammatory found in pineapple. One can also drink chamomile tea several times a day, and keeping their diet filled with fiber-rich foods such as plantains and Psyllium seeds husks for easy regulation of bowel movements, leading to prevention of the condition.

Topical analgesics such as witch hazel, aloe vera and honey can be applied directly to the affected area to reduce swelling, burning and itching temporarily. People suffering from hemorrhoids can also apply cold packs to the affected area for short periods of time to reduce swelling and decrease itching at the same time. These methods should not be confused with treatment of hemorrhoids, as these are simply to reduce pain and swelling until a treatment is effective. Because herbs for hemorrhoids relief can be a fairly slow process, there are several ways to ease the discomfort.

Most of the population affected with hemorrhoids happens to be over the age of 50, but it can happen to anyone, if they are a candidate for being at risk. Following the aforementioned suggestions can help to decrease the likelihood of becoming affected, though the more risk factors a person has, the more likely they are to get hemorrhoids. In most cases, herbal hemorrhoids relief is very effective, and invasive surgical procedures are needed only a very percentage of the time.

Surgery can be more painful than the hemorrhoid itself, and the recovery process can be long. While the patient has the ultimate decision in their direction of care, conservative therapies are suggested, as they are usually as effective as invasive techniques, and have fewer side effects. They are typically just a minor inconvenience for the person that has them, and urgent action with herbal remedies is recommended for resolution without medical intervention.
