People who suffer from allergies cannot get relief fast enough. Merely breathing turns into a major task, which can cause serious problems and allergic outbreaks. The air is full of imperfections that can cause major allergic reactions for many, and mild allergic reactions for even more. The air in most homes is full of odors, mold, mildew, pet dander and various other allergens in the air. This causes many allergy sufferers problems with how to cope on an almost daily basis.

You should first seek the advice of a doctor to determine exactly what your allergy is. Some people are allergic to specific foods, while others are allergic to pet dander and even pollen. If you are allergic to something that is in the air then you can easily see some improvements in your allergies just by using a simple allergy air purifier. You should never attempt to treat allergies yourself without first knowing what specifically is causing the allergy.

Using an allergy air purifier will enable the purifier to trap many of the particles in the air that tend to cause many of the allergic outbreaks that we see today. A very large number of people are allergic to pet hair and pet dander. By removing these particles from the air, it is possible for many to enjoy life as well as enjoy having a pet. Many other allergy sufferers have problems with pollen, which can become quite frequent and serious in the spring and summer months.

By simply purchasing an allergy air purifier, you can see reduced occurrences of allergic reactions as well as save money on the medications that are used to treat your allergy outbreaks. This saves a lot of money in the long term. Allergy air purifiers are made to work for many years, which makes them a much more affordable option. For those suffering from allergies, an allergy air purifier makes an incredible solution that is simple to install and use daily.

Why continue suffering when it is not necessary? Through the use of an allergy air purifier, you are able to remove the harmful particles in the air that are causing many outbreaks and breathe easier, during the day and night. Those who suffer from allergies are seeking any relief possible. Why omit using something so simple as an allergy air purifier? This will help reduce allergic reactions, and keep the air much cleaner and healthier for years.

Suffering is no longer a requirement for daily life. Enjoy the beautiful weather without worrying about the air inside your home.

When it comes to allergies there are all kinds of cause and all kinds of symptoms. Do you suffer from a single allergy symptom? Or many symptoms? There are some common symptoms seen among most:

1. Sneezing with either a runny nose or clogged nose
2. Coughing
3. Postnasal drip
4. Itchy eyes and/or nose
5. Sore throat or itchy throat
6. Watery eyes
7. Conjunctivitis which is an inflammation of the membrane the lines the eyelid which causes swelling of the eyes.

You need to know what the most common airborne allergens are and find out the main allergy symptom or symptoms.

1. Pollen Allergy – this is an allergy that strikes every spring, summer, and fall as tine particles are released from the various trees, weeds, and grasses. These particles are pollen and the main allergy symptom they cause is hay fever. Pollen is the most common allergy out there. With a host of people suffering at different levels. There are many excellent natural products that can help you a lot. If you can determine what is causing your allergy you will be in much better shape. It is the makeup of the pollen that causes the allergy symptom known as hay fever. 2. Molds – Mold spores can pop up anywhere and dealing with it requires that you get down and dirty. It will take some elbow grease and some persistence. If there is mold it can result in an ugly allergy symptom that affects the respiratory system. Mold will grow many places.

If mold is a problem you need to lower the humidity in the house and add fans for ventilation. Remove any visible mold. To clean mold use a product like Captan’s Powder or Orthocine.

3. Dust Mites – you might be surprised to discover that dust mites can produce an allergy symptom like asthma. Dust mites are a microscopic organism that lives in the dust. They are not a single substance. Instead they are a combination of fiber, fabrics, animal dander, food particles, and the list goes on and on. These little creatures are virtually impossible to get rid of so you will want to control your allergy symptom. Of course using hepa filters and dusting and vacuuming regularly will really help.

4. Animals – Pets are one of the most common reasons for developing an allergy symptom like runny watery eyes. Of course there are many different allergies that can be caused by the dander from your pet. There is actually a higher rate of allergies with cats. Pet allergies can actually take up to two years to develop. The allergy symptom can be one or many and it can be no more than an annoyance through to very serious

Whatever your allergy symptom trying to discover the cause is worth your effort because you may be able to eliminate the cause or you may be able to find a natural product that can help you.

An allergy symptom is your clue that your immune system is malfunctioning. It’s time you worked to straighten it out with herbal remedies.

Many who suffer from allergies find themselves suffering almost constantly, especially in the spring and summer months when the pollen counts are elevated heavily. What is the solution to the problem? While there is no permanent solution for those who suffer from allergies, there is some relief that can be discovered. Using some non-medication methods, many allergy sufferers are able to see some almost instantaneous relief from the normal irritants that cause so much stress.

Many people each year suffer from allergies ranging from pollen to pet dander and so much more. How to avoid those allergens is a major cause of concern for some, and only a minor irritation to others. For those who have severe allergies, allergens are a major problem that can result in serious consequences.

Many do not always realize that an allergy relief air purifier is one of the best defenses they have against the allergens in their home. Allergy relief air purifiers are able to remove most of the particles and allergens from the air without the use of chemicals that can often irritate allergies even further. With the invention of allergy relief air purifiers, many allergy sufferers are now able to see an almost immediate improvement in their allergy problems just by using a simple air purifier.

The expenses associated with buying an allergy relief air purifier are much less than the expenses associated with many other allergy treatments today. Add to it the fact that an allergy relief air purifier cleans up the air for everyone in the home, not only the allergy sufferer, and you have an even greater benefit that allergy medications just cannot match.

With some work and research, you will certainly be able to find the best allergy relief air purifier for your needs and in a size that will help you keep the air in your home the best possible. Everyone deserves clean air, and if having clean air helps remove the pollen, dust mites, pet dander, odors and other hazardous particles that irritate most allergies then it is a huge bonus for others in the house.

Remember, when considering the expense of buying an allergy relief air purifier, you will need to change the filters, so ensure that you factor this in when you are trying to determine how cost effective the choice is. You should notice huge savings over the year, from the reduced use of medications to control your allergies. Another option is to purchase an ionic purifier, which does not use filters, thereby giving even greater savings to the consumer.

If you are allergic to eggs then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. The immune system overreacts to the proteins fond in the eggs. The immune system products antibodies that are designed to fight off the harmful egg proteins. The reason the body overacts to certain foods is not clear and more studies are needed.

The proteins fond in the egg whites usually cause allergic to eggs reaction but in rare cases some individuals have been know to be allergic to the yolks of eggs. People with allergies to eggs have a good chance of being allergic to chicken products. As your body becomes sensitized to the eggs allergens, you may react to the ingestion of chicken products as well.

Most food allergy reactions usually happen within a few minutes to a few hours after eating the eggs. Most mild to moderate reactions last less than a day and can involve a rash on the skin, cramps, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, runny nose, watery eyes, wheezing and coughing.

Prior to seeing any allergy specialist for testing to on egg allergies you will need to stop taking any anti-allergy medication or over the counter antihistamines 2 to 3 days before the test are to be performed. Talk to the allergy specialist if you are unsure about any medications that need to be stopped and for how long.

The allergic to eggs testing involves putting a liquid extract of the egg protein on your body, usually the back or forearm, and then scratching the skin slightly. If you develop hives, or red bumps, or the skin turns reddish in color and itches then these symptoms could indicate a positive result for allergies to eggs.

Another test that can be performed is called The Food Challenge. You are told to avoid all egg-containing foods for several weeks. Avoidance can be very difficult because egg protein is often hidden in other foods. Read the labels of every food that you bring into your home. Because the manufacturing processes change continuously re-read the labels each time you purchase a product. On January 1, 2006 a new law was passed stating that all labels should be designed in such a way that a 7-year-old child could read and understand the ingredients.

The doctor will then have you eat only eggs under close supervision. If symptoms appear after eating the egg products they you are allergic to eggs and will need to avoid anything that has on the label, contains egg ingredients, made using egg ingredients, or made in a facility that also processes eggs.

A growing awareness about food allergies is becoming well known in the United States. Food manufactures and restaurants are becoming more understanding and willing to accommodate people living with food allergies. Living with any food allergy is no longer a major undertaking; it is now just a minor adjustment to your life-style.

Always consult your doctor before using this information.

Yeast infection can cause a lot of anxiety, anguish and embarrassment to many sufferers, especially for females who suffers from vaginal yeast infection. It is not a pleasant experience and definitely not something everyone knows about how to prevent and cure yeast infection. But if you follow the below mentioned recommendations and advice. Take small steps to prevent yeast infection, you are one step ahead of curing those nasty infections, and of course itching!

These are some very easy advice and steps to take note of:

Be Diligent, Clean Yourself Thoroughly

Wet or moist environments promote yeast growth. So dry those vaginal area thoroughly after swimming or after you had taken a shower. Especially after swimming, remove your swimsuit quickly and wash yourself clean with running water. If you are into physical exercises, make sure you have a good shower after that. You do not want to leave any room for the yeast to grow.

Select Suitable Type of Clothing

Think you look nice in tight clothing? Well think again! A tight, moist environment greatly increases the chance of yeast growth. Stay away from tight jeans, materials made of synthetic such as polyester. Instead wear cotton based clothing and underwear to let your skin breathe a little better.

A Little Effort Can Go A Long Way

Yeast can actually be transfer from rectum to the vagina and so, after urinating or a bowel movement, wipe yourself clean. However only use white and unscented toilet paper.

Stop Using Scented Products

Avoid using scented pads or tampons and also avoid bubble baths or scented feminine sprays, color toilet paper, deodorant. These can be irritating to the vagina.

Be Selective In Your Sugary Food

Watch out your sugar intake. Yeast grows faster with a higher level of sugar in your body. However, eat more yogurt as it contains friendly bacteria such as lactobacillus acidophilus (I have no idea what it means), which prevents yeast infection. At the end of the day, switch to yogurt.

If you take the above steps to prevent the growth of yeast, curing vaginal yeast infection can be a lot easier as opposed to not doing anything about it and leave it as it is. Do you know that up to 40% of yeast infection sufferers in America does nothing to prevent and hence do nothing to cure their yeast infection? Leaving it untreated can be potentially very dangerous. Taking small positive steps to prevent it will help you cure yeast infections.

When, for a prolonged period, you are exposed to and experience symptoms from an allergen to which you are sensitive, your nose becomes ‘primed’, that is, ready to respond to irritants or to other allergens to which you are normally less sensitive. This response could trigger an asthma attack. For instance, when you are having nasal symptoms during the ragweed season and you are then exposed to dust, the dust can trigger a worsening of your allergy and asthma symptoms even if you are normally not very sensitive to dust.

Allergic Appearance

People who have allergies often breathe through their mouths and frequently itch or rub their noses. Allergic children often rub their noses in an upward and outward manner, similar to a salute, which has been called the ‘allergic salute’. A crease may be present along the lower third of the nose as a result of the frequent rubbing of the nose to relieve the itch.

Dark circles may be present under the eyes, called ‘allergic shiners’, and the eyes may appear a little red. When the doctor looks inside your nose, the mucus membranes are swollen and ‘boggy’ and appear pale. If there is an infection in your nose, the appearance is quite different, as the mucus membranes are then reddened.

How Allergies Are Diagnosed

Allergies are diagnosed by a medical history suggesting a seasonal pattern of a particular exposure that makes asthma and allergy symptoms worse. A review of your overall medical history and present medications allows your doctor to rule out other possibilities that may account for your symptoms. A careful physical examination is also important, looking for characteristic appearance of the inside of the nose and checking for subtle asthma symptoms.

Allergy Skin Tests

Allergy skin testing is performed to determine if someone is allergic. The doctor who performs the skin tests must carefully correlate the test results to the patient’s medical history, as it is possible on occasion to have falsely positive or negative test results. Allergy skin testing identifies whether the specific allergy antibody for the allergen being tested is present on mast cells found in the patient’s skin.

There are two ways to administer allergy skin tests - the scratch or prick test, and the intradermal test.

The prick technique involves placing a drop of an extract of the allergen (such as dust, dog fur, or ragweed pollen) on the skin, typically on the back or forearm. Allergens are placed on the skin in rows so that multiple tests can be performed at the same time. A lancet is then used to gently scratch or puncture the skin to introduce the allergin into the skin.

Today we know that allergies have a cumulative effect on our bodies; that is, the older you get, the worse allergies get, depending on what you were exposed to while growing up. Nasty microscopic bed bugs, dust mites, and bacteria live in most mattresses and pillows, separated from your face and body only by the barrier that you place between them and you. They feed on dead skin cells and become, for humans, a major cause of asthma, eczema, and rhinitis.

Unfortunately, standard pillowcases and sheets (in other words, standard bedding), don’t serve as adequate barriers from the nasty little bugs. Fortunately, the right mattress cover can protect you.

We make a substantial investment in a good mattress. For those of us with back and other injuries that we must accommodate by providing additional sleep support, we also spend a hefty sum on therapeutic pillows for our head and neck and on body pillows.

So what happens when we bring home a new mattress and plunk down our old pillow on it? And what happens when we buy an expensive neck or body pillow and put it on our existing mattress?

Well, you can guess that the nasty bugs travel right through our bedding to build a comfy home in the brand new product.

What we really need is a mattress cover that is a breathable yet waterproof barrier fabric that prevents bacteria and dust mites from breeding in our mattresses and pillows. We would all like something that feels soft to the touch yet does not let anything get through to our skin and into the new products that we buy.

And while we’re at it, why not provide a healthy, allergy-free sleep zone for baby to reduce the allergens to which baby is exposed from the start!

There are mattress covers available today that provide the barrier we seek. There are two types.

1. The less-expensive mattress protectors, such as the Slumber Soft Mattress Pad, are top-layer, waterproof barriers to protect our mattresses from moisture from bed wetting, sweating, etc. They have a super-soft feel like natural cotton, but are typically made from durable polyester Flannelatte Laminated Vinyl to prevent any leakage onto the mattress. That just means that they simulate flannel with an underlying layer of impermeable high-tech vinyl. They make excellent mattress protectors for the crib and for the elderly. Family caregivers appreciate the fact that they are lightweight and easy maintenance (machine washable). With straps to hook around the corners of the mattress, they are easy to remove and clean, and easy to replace on the mattress. Some of the waterproof-only mattress protectors are reversible so you can use them longer. With a super-soft, cottony feel, they give both baby and the elderly a comfortable night’s sleep while protecting the mattress from moisture and odor.

2. The second type of mattress cover is the allergy mattress cover that is slightly more expensive but which provides complete protection both against moisture and dust mites or bacteria. The dust mites or bacteria that may have lived in your mattress will not reach your skin or lungs once your mattress is covered with an impenetrable allergy mattress cover. It wraps your mattress like a fitted sheet. While your skin feels soft cotton on top, the waterproof, impenetrable-barrier layer further down, made from the latest high tech fabric, separates you from the bugs!

There are also mattress covers in baby’s size to protect the crib mattress both from dust mites and from bedwetting moisture, stains, and odor! The allergy mattress cover offers complete protection as a waterproof barrier and as a shield against dust mites and bacteria found in every home. Allergy mattress covers are available in pillow slip-on sizes to protect your face and neck while you sleep.

Just be careful to examine the label on the mattress cover or pillow cover to ensure that you are getting the proper protection. If it is a waterproof mattress cover (for bedwetting) that you are protecting against, either level will do. If it is an allergy mattress cover that interests you, the label should discuss the mattress protection against allergy-causing dust mites and bacteria.

It is helpful to know about your allergy testing options before you go to the doctor. The type of allergy testing depends on what you suspect you are allergic to and the severity of your reaction. Some tests work better than others depending on your case. Your allergy testing map ends at 3 different destinations.

The 3 type of tests are:

* Scratch Tests
* Elimination Diets
* Blood Tests

Scratch tests are the most common form of allergy testing conducted today. The results can be seen as quickly as twenty minutes. The actual test is conducted by placing a small amount of the suspected allergen onto the surface of the skin, usually along the spine or on the upper arm. The patient is then scratched or pricked on the same area allowing some of the substance to penetrate the skin. The area is then observed to see whether the patient has an allergic reaction such as swelling, redness or itching. This method of allergy testing is quick and can cover quite a range of possible allergens. That is why it is particularly good when you don’t know what your allergies are. The test works well for insect bites, airborne allergens like pollen and food allergies as well.

Specific food allergies can be tested by using a different form of allergy testing that puts a patient on an elimination diet. For a period of several weeks the range of foods suspected of causing the allergy are eliminated from the patients diet. Then each food is then reintroduced individually to see whether the allergy symptoms come back. Of course, this method of allergy testing is better for mild food allergies. If you get severe allergic reactions bordering on anaphylactic shock then you should skip this test and the scratch tests and immediately go to your next option.

The last form of allergy testing on our list is a RAST(radioallergosorbent test) which most people just classify as a blood test. Blood is drawn from the patient and is then sent to a lab for testing. The blood is examined for the presence of immunoglobulin (IgE) antibodies. The presence of these antibodies indicates whether the body’s immune system is causing the body to have an allergic reaction. Elevated levels of these IgE’s can tell your doctor whether you are allergic to certain types of allergens. This type of allergy testing has been known to not be as precise or accurate as other methods.

The last type of test that is provocation or challenge tests. This is where a doctor exposes you directly to what you think you are allergic to so that your reaction can be monitored. This can be very dangerous so definitely don’t try this at home. Your reaction may be more severe than you think. This type of allergy testing is of course not that common.

If you are allergic to wheat then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. The allergic reaction to wheat intolerance is caused by one or more of the 4 main groups of proteins found in wheat. The 4 proteins groups consist of, water-soluble, salt-soluble, alcohol-soluble and alcohol-insoluble. Different proportion of the proteins is found in wheat depending on the type of wheat being tested.

Scientists do not clearly understand why the immune system of people allergic to wheat considers some food proteins as harmful by the body. The immune system can mount a variety of defenses mechanisms against proteins that is considers as harmful or foreign. Symptoms can be very mild to life-threatening depending on the severity of your wheat allergies. They usually occur within a few minutes to a few hours after eating or inhaling wheat.

The proteins found in wheat trigger the immune system to reaction. Antibodies and histamines are releases into the blood stream in an attempt to neutralize the wheat protein. These chemicals trigger the allergic symptoms. In sever cases Epinephrine, also call Adrenaline, is administered to control the anaphylaxis reaction.

Except for specific groups, being allergic to wheat is considered relatively uncommon. Up to 30 percent of people in the baking industry is believed to have developed occupation asthma because of allergies or intolerance to wheat and flower.

Diagnosis of wheat allergies is usually performed by appropriate laboratory skin prick test. Self-diagnosis of wheat allergies can be done if a person has the same reaction every time after eating wheat-containing food. However the self-diagnosis is usually difficult because wheat is usually consumed with other foods and the type of wheat proteins varies greatly.

Avoidance of wheat-containing foods is the only effective treatment for people who are allergic to wheat. Avoidance can be very difficult because wheat protein is often hidden in other foods. Until a cure is found, read the labels of every food that you bring into your home. Because the manufacturing processes change continuously re-read the labels each time you purchase a product. On January 1, 2006 a new law was passed stating that all labels should be designed in such a way that a 7 year old child could read and understand the ingredients.

Avoid any food products that have Wheat, Bran, Bread Crumbs, Cereal Extract, Natural Flavoring, Starch, Vegetable Gum, Soy Sauce, Gluten, or Enriched Flower on the label until you know if that particular item will give you an allergic reaction.

If you are allergic to mold then you suffer from Allergies Type 1, also called Contact Allergies. Mold spores are in your environment year round. Fresh air contains more mold spores than pollen. The higher the humidity the higher the mold counts.

When molds or fungi reproduces it sends tremendous numbers of spores into the air similar to plants releasing pollen into the air for reproductive purposes. Mold spores are microscopic in size and easily become airborne and will travel throughout the central air and heading system. If you are allergic to mold spores then whey come into contact with the skin or are inhaled, they spores trigger an allergic reaction.

Molds and fungi like an environment that is dark, damp and has a good food supply. Molds and fungi live off of decomposing plant and animal material. You home can become a prime breading ground for mold and fungi. Most homes have a large quantity of decomposing plant material, its call wood. Add a little bit of moisture from the air, rain leaking into the walls, or from a leaky pipe and the inside of your walls become a prime breading area.

Other areas in the home that you should look for molds that are commonly overlooked are foam pillows, garbage cans, refrigerator door gaskets, refrigerator cooling coils, the drip pan under refrigerators, under sink cabinets, closets, storerooms, air conditioner units, washing machines, dryer vents, and carpets.

Symptoms include coughing, sneezing, runny nose, headaches, congestion in the lungs, hives, and itchy and watery eyes.

A few years back home were being built in the Southern United States that used foam board as insulation with no air spaces to let in air. This type of insulation can act as a wick for any water on the floor and as a result Black Mold started to grow. This type of mold is extremely toxic and can be deadly for mold allergy suffers. When Black Mold infests a building, mold spores are continuously releases into the air and will easily travel throughout the central air and heading system.

For anyone with a predisposition to being allergic to mold, a home infested with Black Mold can become a lethal environment. Killing all Black Mold in a home, once it is well established is next to impossible and the best solution is to remove your self from the toxic environment.

Treatment includes cleaning of all of the hot spots for mold activity mention previously. Use mold killing solution on bathroom tiles, shower curtains, shower stalls, around the bathtub and toilet tank and always use the exhaust fan to reduce the humidity levels when you are using the bathroom and kitchen.

Add mold inhibitor to paint and repaint the kitchen and all bathrooms. Never use a carpet in the bathroom. Tile or linoleum is easy to clean and will not trap water. Keeping the humidity below 40 percent will help to deter mold growth. Invest in a good quality dehumidifier for all rooms that are use most often.

Air cleaners can make a really big difference in the severity and frequency of allergy attacks. The central heating system should have an electrostatic air filter to distribute clean air through out the house. These electrostatic air filters trap microscopic allergens. Consider investing in a HEPA room air cleaner for all bedrooms and in the family room.
