If you suffer from drug addiction, alcohol addiction, dual diagnosis or even an eating disorder, then you have probably thought of entering a drug rehab program at a drug addiction treatment center. Even if you have not given it some serious consideration, the odds are good that a loved one has. There are many such addiction treatment programs available, some are well publicized drug rehabs, while other addiction treatment programs seem like they are located in residential neighborhoods. The common thread for all of these drug addiction treatment programs is that each drug addiction treatment center provides the individual with an opportunity to achieve long term recovery from drugs, alcohol, their eating disorder or dual diagnosis. What is this drug addiction treatment success based on? While there may not be an actual secret to addiction treatment success, a successful drug addiction treatment center simply helps the person suffering from drug addiction or alcoholism to break through their denial, become honest and work towards wanting recovery as much as they desired drugs or alcohol. Drug addiction treatment, whether for alcoholism, dual diagnosis or an eating disorder is a process, not an event, and takes time.
Differences in Drug Addiction Treatment While each drug addiction treatment center varies in approach and the addiction treatment philosophy it chooses, some are focused heavily on a spiritual approach, while others only touch spiritually on the periphery and concentrate much more on psychological counseling. Each addiction treatment program seeks to replace the previously self destructive thoughts and behaviors with that of healthier ones.
Jonathan Huttner is a principal with lakeview Health Systems which specializes in the treatment of drug addiction, alcoholism and dual diagnosis. Lakeview also operates a gay friendly drug rehab and addiction treatment program called Freedom Rings.

You have reached the point that you have determined that you need some sort of alcoholism addiction treatment. However, although you may have seen a great deal about alcoholism on television and in the movies, you may not really know what your options are when it comes to alcoholism addiction treatment in your own life. There really are a number different approaches to alcoholism addiction treatment. Nonetheless, most of the approaches to alcoholism addiction treatment are based two primary types of alcoholism addiction treatment that have become accepted by treatment professionals the world over.
* There is the 12-step alcoholism addiction treatment regimen.
* There is what commonly now is known as the rational recovery alcoholism addiction treatment program.
12-Step Alcoholism Addiction Treatment Options Overview:
The 12-step approach to alcoholism addiction treatment has gained favor around the world over the course of the past few generations. The fundamental underpinning of this approach to alcoholism addiction treatment is that as individual is powerless over alcoholism, that alcoholism is a disease.
The disease of alcoholism can be managed by undertaking the 12-step process of Alcoholics Anonymous that is incorporated into inpatient and outpatient alcoholism addiction treatment programs alike in this day and age.
Rational Recovery Alcoholism Addiction Treatment Options:
Over the course of the last decade and a half, what many consider a new school of alcoholism addiction treatment has started to gain wider acceptance in some sectors. This treatment plan commonly is called “Rational Recovery.”
In Rational Recovery, the concept that a person is powerless of alcoholism is rejected. The idea that alcoholism is a disease over which a person has no control is also called into question. Through the general philosophy of Rational Recovery, a person who “has alcoholism” is thought to be able to overcome his or her alcoholism be retraining the way he or she thinks. By invoking rational thought to his or her alcohol use and abuse the individual is said to be able to bring an end to his or her alcohol abuse and is then able to restore a sense of order to his or her life.

Acupuncture is not a new method for relieving pain, stress or even to stop smoking. Acupuncture is a Chinese medical practice that is ancient. It is thought that acupuncture has actually been around for 3000 plus years. It has only recently been used for quitting smoking though and the results are amazing. Acupuncture is the act of using needles that are very thin into specific spots on your body that relieves pain, stress, fatigue and helps people to stop smoking.
Acupuncture is a great way to stop smoking and to help you beat the addiction. You cannot administer acupuncture to yourself, you will need to see a qualified acupuncture administer and for this you will probably have to pay. You may be able to get a few sessions prescribed from your doctor, but the likelihood of having to pay for the sessions yourself are high.
Acupuncture will only work if you are committed to quitting smoking. It isn’t some magical voodoo that makes you quit smoking instantly, and you will probably have to have quite a few sessions to feel the full benefit.
The acupuncture doesn’t make you quit, you will have to do that yourself. The acupuncture for quitting smoking actually focuses on the after effects of quitting smoking. It helps to alleviate the symptoms, the cravings, and the desire to smoke again amongst other things.
The acupuncture will also help you to relax, it will help you to de-stress and many other things that are associated with smoking and quitting. You will be able to relax easily therefore not needing the cigarettes. Acupuncture can also help your body to Detox and release all the toxins within your body because of smoking.

Clinical Acupuncture Practice
Acupuncture needles used for clinical practice are special needles of fine diameter made of stainless steel and are not hollow. The needle has a thick bronze wire wound on its upper third and a handle for firm grip. Each acupuncture style has a unique insertion depth and type of needle used. The acupuncture point is heated with a process called moxicombustion.
Safety of Acupuncture
The acupuncture process is safe to perform if it’s done by a certified acupuncturist. Acupuncture therpists are now commonplace and you should be able to talk to him or her about your condition and any specific questions or queries you might have. The equipment is safe and clean. The needles used are pre sterilized and disposable. Thus they are safe to use and unlikely to transmit disease.
Complementary Therapy With Acupuncture
Acupuncture can be used as a complementary therapy for the following conditions:
Anxiety
Neuralgias
Migraines
Chronic pain
Arthritis
Bruxism
TMJ pain
Allergic rhinitis
A trained acupuncturist can also advise on other conditions where acupuncture may be of use and you should be able to discuss your particular case and concerns with him or her. Most, of not all, practitioners will be happy to discuss your requirements with them and they will not wish for you to part with any money until you are satisfied as to the process.
Acupuncture is a relatively safe, painless and without any notable side effects. Under an expert acupuncturist you can relieve your pain the Oriental way!

Maximum Benefits from Esterified Fatty Acids
Simply put an ester is formed when an alcohol combines with an acid in a reaction to form an organic compound.
That’s the short scientific explanation.
For us laypeople who are interested in increasing our intake of important fatty acids — particularly the omega 3 fatty acids we always hear about — the importance of esterified fatty acids is that they are more bioavailabile.
For example, fish oils, which are arguably the best source of all for the important omega 3 fatty acids DHA and DPA, can be harder for the body to convert when they come in triglyceride form, which is, in fact, the form most of them do come in.
The body has to convert this triglyceride compound into an ester before it can be used.
Therefore, by taking esterified fatty acids in a fish oil supplement for omega 3’s, the body has less work to do. Benefits are enhanced as the omega 3 fatty acids are more readily utilized by the body.
In summary, look for Omega 3 esters made from purified fish oils if you want maximum benefits of these fatty acids. Plant sources tend to be inferior sources of omega 3 fatty acids because they come in ALA form and must be converted by the body to DHA and EPA, and this conversion often does not happen efficiently.

Dental insurance is a benefit typically provided by employers to help offset some of the high costs for dental care.
Good overall health relates to good dental health. Dental insurance is a benefit typically provided by employers to help offset some of the costs for dental care. Individual dental insurance Plans are available and provide dental benefits similar to the dental insurance you can get through an employer. Dental insurance typically pays claims directly to the dentist for most dental procedures. Dental insurance will pay the dentist a set amount or percentage for each dental procedure. Typically dental insurance will provide benefits for any dentist you might use.
Individual dental insurance is typically more expensive than group dental, and individual dental insurance can come with waiting periods. Sometimes discount dental plans would be a better fit for individuals than dental insurance. Discount dental plans typically have no waiting periods or claim forms and the cost less than dental insurance. Discount dental plans offer a set fee schedule for dental procedures done by dentists within a network of dentists. People with discount dental plans enjoy big savings on procedures like cleanings, fillings, crowns, and root canals if they are done with a dentist within the network.
Dental insurance and discount dental plans can work together to provide enhanced dental benefits. Dental insurance may have waiting periods of up to 12 months before major dental services are covered. Dental insurance also typically has an annual maximum of and750 - $2000 for dental procedures. with a discount dental plan there are no caps no waiting periods and no claim forms. If someone needs dental work done right away, a discount dental plans would help save money on dental procedures right away, and dental insurance could begin to pay once the waiting periods are met.

Allergies are one of the leading causes of diseases in USA. The annual amount spent on allergies in USA is $18 billion. Allergies could get complicated and even ruin a person’s life. Allergies generally mean over reaction or hyper sensitivity to a certain substance or product. The substance could make a person sneeze, wheeze or create rashes etc.
Allergies have also been linked to many respiratory diseases. Sinus, Asthma, Bronchitis are some diseases that are caused by allergies. Allergies can be managed by taking precautionary measures. Some allergic reactions can be very bad. Allergies can also be inherited like balding. Some people are allergic to specific allergens, some to soy, milk, fish etc. Like adults, children and infants are also allergic to certain substances. Cows milk allergy is very common in children. If a child is allergic to cows milk, as a substitute they are provided soymilk. More than 50% of children develop allergies to soymilk.
Allergies due to dust and pollution are very common nowadays. The dust particles enter the nose and make a person sneeze. It could also lead to other diseases like bronchitis and asthma. Allergies due to pollution, candle smoke, incense stick etc could create various upper respiratory problems. People with upper respiratory problems have itching in the throat and ear also. The third most common cause of allergies seen in cats and dogs is food allergies. Those allergies account for about 10% of all the allergies and is only preceded by flea bite allergies and atopy (inhalant allergies). By feeding their pets a lamb and rice diet, many pet owners feel that they are avoiding pet food allergies, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth!
According to the Veterinary & Aquatic Services Department, Drs. Foster and Smith,
“The entire process of a pet being sensitized to a particular agent in food and the complicated antibody response that occurs in the intestinal tract in pets with food allergies are not very well understood. Despite our lack of understanding of the actual disease process, there are many things that we do know including the symptoms, how to diagnose food allergies, and also how to treat them.”
Food allergies commonly occur between the ages of 2 to 6 years, but have been revealed as early as five months and as late as 11 to 12 years of age. Food allergies have an effect on all animals, whether they are male or female or neutered or intact, in the same way. They affect both cats and dogs. There has been no sturdy link among specific breeds and allergies. Coexisting inhalant allergies or contact allergies can be found in many animals with food allergies.
Food allergies should not be confused with food intolerances. There are differences between the two. Allergies normally cause such symptoms of itching and skin problems connected with canine and feline allergies. Whereas, food intolerances do not produce distinctive allergic response and normally result in diarrhea or vomiting. Similar to the response of diarrhea or an upset stomach people have when eat spicy or fried foods. If you feed your pet a diet free from the bad ingredients, you can get rid of food intolerances and allergies.
Do want to improve your dog’s health but you don’t know how? Well, here’s a tip a little birdy told me once…prepare meals at home for your dog! That’s right, treat them like they are part of the family.

Arthritis

Childhood arthritis is a disease that occurs in children under the age of 16. It causes pain, stiffness, and swelling in one or more of the joints. This pain, stiffness, and swelling are called inflammation. With childhood arthritis, the inflammation lasts longer than six weeks, and is not caused by an injury or other illness. Childhood arthritis is also called juvenile arthritis.
How common is childhood arthritis? It affects 1 in 1,000 US children under the age of 16.
Both boys and girls are affected by childhood arthritis. Arthritis is not just a disease of old people. In fact, approximately one in 1,000 children under the age of 16 suffers from arthritis. Juvenile arthritis is among the most common chronic childhood disorders.
What causes childhood arthritis?
The exact cause of childhood arthritis is unknown. Childhood arthritis does not usually run in families and cannot be passed from one person to another. The onset of childhood arthritis may follow an infection or injury, but these events do not cause the arthritis.
With childhood arthritis, the body’s immune system stops working properly. The immune system’s job is to fight off germs and disease. However, in a child with childhood arthritis the immune system attacks healthy tissues. What triggers this process is unknown.
What can you do about childhood arthritis? If your child has inflammation, in one or more joints for more than six weeks your doctor may perform a physical examination of your child and order tests, such as x-rays and blood tests to find out what is causing the inflammation. There is not just one single symptom, sign, or test that will give a diagnosis of childhood arthritis.
If your doctor thinks your child has childhood arthritis, he or she will usually refer your child to a rheumatologist (pronounced room-a-tol-o-jist). A rheumatologist is a doctor who has received special training in the diagnosis and treatment of problems involving inflammation of the joints, muscles and other parts of the body.
